Meet Renee
Judge C. Renee Little is a native Charlottean and a first generation American of Liberian
ancestry. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from Clark Atlanta
University and her Juris Doctor degree from University of Florida. She is a proud wife, mother,
daughter, sister and neighbor.
Committed
Judge Little is a member of the State Bar of North Carolina, the State Bar of Georgia, the
Mecklenburg County Bar, and the John S. Leary Bar Association. She also serves the courts and community as a member of the Mecklenburg County Indigent Representation Council, the
Juvenile Crime Prevention Council and Race Matters for Juvenile Justice. Judge Little was the
inaugural chair of the Mecklenburg County Bar Juvenile Law Section and she is an alumna of
Community Building Initiative’s Leadership Development Initiative.
Respected
Judge Little is a skilled presenter and facilitator who has educated members of the community
about Juvenile and Guardianship Law. In 2015, she was named YWCA Woman of the Year
“Community Champion”. She also had the honor of educating new North Carolina judges about
trauma-informed Court practices.
Experienced
Judge Little’s legal experiences include service as a corporate lawyer, a juvenile defender and a judicial hearings officer. As a judge, she has presided over Criminal , and Domestic Violence
matters. She currently proudly serves youth and families in the Juvenile Court division and as
the presiding judge for F.I.R.S.T Recovery Court.
